Welcome to the end of the first week of the 2019-2020 Homeschool Curriculum Expo!! Don’t worry- we have quite a few weeks to go! Today’s featured homeschool publisher is Yellow House Book Rental! Have you ever considered cutting costs by renting homeschool curriculum? It may be a perfect solution for you- check it out…

Would you like to save money, try a new curriculum without all the cost, and not have to worry about storing all your unused curriculum or selling it? Then rent your homeschool curriculum from Yellow House Book Rental!

Yellow House Book Rental is family owned and operated. I have homeschooled for almost 22 years and enjoy helping homeschool families in their homeschooling journey. Homeschooling is a fun, difficult, wonderful, time-consuming, amazing, wild ride… worth every minute!

Yellow House Book Rental is a service to homeschool families. We rent homeschool curriculum. About 6 years ago I realized, when helping our son purchase his college textbooks, that renting was a more economical option than purchasing the textbooks. I thought, “Why not make this available to homeschool families as well?” Shortly after, Yellow House Book Rental was born.

Have you ever wanted to try out new curriculum but didn’t want to spend the money and later find out that it didn’t fit your child’s learning needs?  No need to worry about that when you rent. Rent it at a fraction of the cost of purchasing. When you are done with it, return it. What if you liked it and want to keep it? Keep reading and find out how you can!

So how does renting work? Rent-Use-Return. It’s that easy.

  • Chose the curriculum you would like to rent. We have a wide variety.

Apologia, Sonlight, Mystery of History,

Life of Fred, WriteShop, Notgrass, and more!

  • Chose which rental option you want in the checkout process. Our rental service allows you to rent most products for a 10-month period. There are two choices: August through May or September through June. Some of our products are semester rentals (5-month period).
  • Pay for your order.
  • We will ship your curriculum to arrive at the beginning of the month of your chosen rental period.
  • Use it, enjoy it, learn from it.
  • Ship it back to us at the end of your rental period. When we receive it, we will reimburse you the return shipping cost.

Renting is not the only service we provide. We would like to help you in your homeschooling journey by giving you several options that will fit your needs and help reduce the cost of curriculum

  • Try before you buy. Rent the curriculum you want to try, if you decide you want to keep it, let us know and we will bill you the purchase price minus the rental fee already paid. After you have paid, it’s yours to keep! If you decide you don’t want to purchase it, just return it to us when the rental period is up.
  • Download– Many of the products we rent and sell also have download options or additional resources available through downloads. Our site directs you to our partners where you can download the additional resources.
  • Purchase used. We have a small Used Curriculum Market.
  • Purchase the curriculum outright.
  • Sell it back to us. When you purchase curriculum from us and are ready to sell it. Remember us. We love to purchase used curriculum that we are in need of from our customers
  • There is a plethora of excellent homeschool materials out there. If we can’t rent it or don’t sell it, we do our best to direct you to others who do.

You can get all your core school subjects for under $140 when you rent homeschool curriculum.

  2. As a newish homeschooler with twice exceptional kids, being able to try before you buy could be helpful.

  3. I think the most exciting aspect is probably the “try before you buy”. I also appreciate that I wouldn’t have to invest in a whole curriculum that will work for one kid, but maybe not for the next.

  4. The most exciting part for me is the try before you buy aspect. This will be our first year homeschooling and there are so many options out there!

  5. Try before you buy and having the curriculum get reused. With only one child, having all those books just sit when she is done with them seems like a big waste of resources

  6. For a newer homeschool mom, the different curriculum choices can be a bit overwhelming. I like the idea of renting curriculum, so we can try it out…if it works great! If not, we save money in the long run.

  7. I love that this could save money! We don’t keep our curriculum from year to year, so it would save the hassle of trying to sell it.

  8. I like that if it doesnt work for us, I didn’t spend the FULL amount on it. And, since that happens a lot for us its a huge bonus.

  9. I absolutely love being able to see if a curriculum is or isn’t a good fit before you commit!

  10. I didn’t even know renting was an option, and that takes so much pressure off in choosing curriculum! I’ll have 3 kids to go through, but being able to try it out before committing sounds wonderful.

  24. The most exciting part is renting books!

  25. The most exciting part is being able to save a great deal of money for field trips or other fun learning activities.

  26. I really appreciate all you have put out there for us fellow homeschoolers over the years. We love Life of Fred. I used it to teach my grandson to read. We borrowed a few of the math editions from the library but would love to own the intermediate set.

  27. Like that you could try before spending lots of money on a curriculum that may not fit your kids.

  28. I’ve never rented books at all. Never thought of it. I’m a book lover but I don’t really like the piles of curriculum I no longer use.

  29. I like that you can try before spending a lot of money on something that may or may not work for your family.

  30. What a wonderful way to try out new curriculum before shelling out the big bucks!
