Today we’re rounding out Week 4 of the 2019-2020 Homeschool Curriculum Expo with our featured publisher, Code Monkey! Check them out…
Code Monkey is an online game based platform that teaches computer programming to kids in a colorful and engaging way. In this day and age, it is almost a necessity that kids become familiar and comfortable with all types of technology. Learning how to code puts them at an advantage so including it in your homeschool as an elective is a great way to round out your child’s education while letting them engage in a little fun.
Code Monkey is geared for children ages 7-16 (with a Code Monkey Jr version coming soon for kids 4-6). It offers several different options for play and learning like Challenge Builder, Coding Adventure, and a few others. Kids can use what they learn to develop their own apps and games, building confidence in their own skills.
Coding Adventure– While it seems like play children are learning a lot of computer skills such as game design, algorithms, and data structures as they code in real programming language over 16 lessons.
Challenge builder– Children are taught to write their own code and are able to share it with others by creating their own Coding Adventure styled challenges.
Code Monkey Jr (coming soon)– Code Monkey Jr will teach logic, algorithms, sequencing, loops, counting, direction/orientation through colorful interactions with a monkey who they help to collect bananas.
This is a great computer-based course for at home use or to share with your homeschool co-op and they offer several options to suit your needs. You can choose a parent account for as low as $3.95/mo billed annually that includes one child account or sign up for a free 30-day teacher trial and get:
