I was given a review copy of TT 3.0 and financial compensation in exchange for an honest review of Teaching Textbooks. I was not required to write a favorable review. All opinions expressed are my own.

Welcome to Day 12 of the 2018 Back to Homeschool Giveaway Extravaganza!

I’m excited today to bring you this review about a new version of the math curriculum that I have actually used for years with my own family: Teaching Textbooks. Not only am I sharing my honest thoughts of this math curriculum, but I’m giving away TWO one year subscriptions!

Of all of the things you will do as a homeschool parent, choosing a Math curriculum for each of your children is likely going to be the hardest. Adding to that, our children want to do more of their lessons on the computer, you will quickly learn that the recommendations from seasoned homeschoolers in your area may not be the best choices in today’s homeschooling if what they are suggesting isn’t keeping up! You need something that is going to benefit your child no matter what platform they prefer. That’s why Teaching Textbooks has created their latest 3.0 package! With Teaching Textbooks 3.0 your child can have the very best of both worlds! They can complete their work on the computer (or tablet), AND you can print the printable eBook to have the paper lessons to use. THE BONUS is you still use the 2.0 textbook and discs in conjunction with the 3.0 platform because ALL content matches the physical textbook!

Teaching Textbooks 3.0

Why 3.0 Rocks!

Teaching Textbooks 3.0 has everything you (and all of your homeschool friends) love about their physical book and disc set BUT better! For starters, Teaching Textbooks 3.0 is going to save you a ton! Especially if you have a large family! Instead of $120+ per child each year, you can have a complete Teaching Textbooks curriculum for as little as $25 each! (The large family discount plan for 4-8 students comes to just $16.59 per month!) Read on to learn more.

The latest version of the TT product line—the 3.0—is sold as an annual online subscription, but each subscription is only for 1 child and 1 course. The prices for these subscriptions, however, are FAR lower than the prices of [their] 2.0 products (books and discs). The price of a 3.0 subscription varies from around $43 to $67, whereas [their] 2.0 (physical) products cost around $120 to $185 depending on the grade level.

Of course, the price drop is great, especially if you have fewer children. The fewer the children, the cheaper the overall cost. But we also wanted the pricing structure to yield new advantages for larger families, those with 4 to 8 children. So we decided to cap the total annual cost to these families at $199.08. This means that large families can now convert everyone over to TT at a cost that is very close to the price of just one TT high school level 2.0 (physical) set. Also, there is no financial penalty as the number of children (within the plan) rises. In fact, the more children you have, the lower the per child cost. Do the math and you will see that for a family of 8, the per child cost is now only around $25 per year!

Teaching Textbooks has totally changed the environment of our homeschool. Math used to be the most stressful time of the day…often lasting HOURS and ending in tears. This isn’t the case any longer!

Is Teaching Textbooks is really an effective math curriculum?

I’ll let my daughter’s end of grade test results speak for themselves!

The second column in the chart is the grade equivalency- She just finished 7th grade and her mathematics composite grade equivalency is post-high school! The third column is her national percentile rank and the last column is her stanine score with 9 being the highest possible score!

It’s My First Year Trying Teaching Textbooks, Where Do I Start?

Not sure where you begin? Start by having your child take the placement test HERE. Placement tests are free printable files with instructions to you and worksheets for your child. The tests are not timed and everything you need to grade them is included within the download.

Help! My Child Will Only Work From His/Her Tablet!

Teaching Textbooks 3.0

We’ve all been there, your child has a tablet that is their very own and they no longer want to use your desktop to complete their work. Honestly, I’m not sure if I blame them. Math can be a struggle in itself, and if sitting in their hammock swing in their room is what it takes to get Math done, than that is exactly what we do, am I right? Isn’t this why we homeschool? So we can use an alternative approach whenever necessary? Absolutely!

Your child can use Teaching Textbooks 3.0 on their smart phone or tablet by using a free browser add-on that has Adobe Flash built-in. Once the browser is installed, login to the student’s account as usual. All of the details on how to use

NOTE: When your child is working from their smart phone or tablet, they should use the device in portrait view and remember to drop the keyboard to the bottom of their screen before starting each lesson. You can learn more about using handheld devices with the 3.0 platform of Teaching Textbooks HERE.

  1. This is our first year using CDROM and I am not sure about 3.0 version and this would be a great way to try it out.

  31. This would be so perfect!! I love teaching textbooks. I plan to call them as we’ve switched computers for our kids and I think our math 7 won’t work on Mac 🖥. 3.0 would be perfect ….but I’m hoping not to have to buy it as I already made the plunge on math 7 and was hoping to reuse it. 🙏🙏🙏. 37. I am looking in to this program and interested in the possibility of using it.

  38. It would be great to win this this math program because we are in the market for a new math curriculum. I would like to my fellas to enjoy math again.

  39. It would be great to try out for my struggling learner.

  40. Awesome contest! We are on Day 4 of the free trial and loving it so winning would be awesome- ha!

  41. We tried TT last year. My son got frustrated for a couple reasons. I’ve always wanted to give it another try, but the CD’s were just too expensive. This would be a nice option to try.

  42. We really need a math curriculum for the family that can be done on our phones or tablets.

  43. I would love to win this. The only problem I have is deciding which child to use it for….my 12 yr old that is so advanced or my 11 yr old dyslexic child who struggles with all his learning!?!?!

It sounds too good to be true. If I win it will give me a chance to see if I should try to come up with the money to get it for all the kids.

  44. My son has dyslexia, and I’ve heard that Teaching Textbooks is a great program for that.

  45. This will be my first year to homeschool. After spending so much on curricula already, I still need a math curriculum for my third grader. I’d love to win a Teaching Textbooks subscription. Thanks!

  46. Been wanting to try TT but haven’t yet because of the price. Thank you for the post and giveaway. We also have had our MATH struggles!!

  47. I have mixed feelings about Teaching Textbooks. I continue to use it because my children love it and very rarely complain about Math while doing it. In addition, it is fairly convenient. On the other hand, I feel it isn’t as advanced as most other curriculums. A lot of the concepts are introduced a lot later or more slowly than other curriculums I have interacted with.

  48. This is great. Now I have to check this out, sounds perfect. Thanks for the post

  49. I am just getting started homeschooling my 9 and 12 year old and was looking at TT. The price is out of our budget, but I’m very excited about the chance to win!

  50. I don’t want to pass up on an opportunity like this one! Thanks!

  51. Maths has always been a huge gut wrenching, tear filled chore in our HomeSchool and I would love to try this to see if it can be less of a chore and more enjoyable for our family 🙂

    1. Oops, just seen that this competition is only open to US residents, what a bummer 🙁 🙁

  52. I would love to win this! Math has been my most challenging subject with all my kiddos. It’s the one that brings my youngest to tears.

  53. I am so happy to hear this. I too have recently found out my 8 yr old is struggling with retaining math because I too am not able to teach her the way she can understand.. fingers crossed I win. Thanks for posting

  54. This would be a huge blessing to my family. We switched over to TT a little over a year ago and my kids are excelling. We have a big family so this would be perfect for us! Thank you so much for the chance to win!

  55. I’ve heard such great things about TT, but this will make it so much more affordable!

  56. I have twins and we’re all struggling. Thanks for providing the opportunity to potentially try something new. ♥️

  57. I love TT. Last year was a our first year using it and it was great! It would be such a blessing to win this giveaway since I only have 2 children old enough to utilize TT for math right now. It would define rely relieve some of the financial woes of homeschooling.

  58. I have always wanted to use Teaching textbooks, but could not fit it into my home school budget. I would love this opportunity to use it for all of my children!

  59. My 7th grader really needs help in the math department and I really like to try this program. 😊

  60. I am entering because when I saw the title in the subject line, “The subject that almost destroyed our homeschooling”, I KNEW it had to be math! My son does fairly well in math, but LOVES a computer opportunity. My daughter struggles and needs lots of perspective to truly obtain mastery of a new math skill. Perhaps Teaching Textbooks will be my new go-to! Thanks for the opportunity!

  61. I just recently started looking in to teaching textbooks. My oldest is homeschooling this year since the school district was not following her accommodations an wad making everything worse. My 2nd oldest has been homeschooled for a few years and does really well with Kahn academy, so thought my oldest would be fine with it too. Not so. We started our school year and all she does is scream at the computer. I lowered her math level for this year to be more of a review, and since she had poor grades last year, a review really doesn’t hurt, but doing that gives me the time to research and try different things. One of the things she has said she wanted was a program with a textbook (ebook fine, it’s about having written instructions) as well as computer portions. And that started to be a tall order. Looked at TT and thought that it might work, but was looking at 1.0 and 2.0 and the price was just out of our range, was happy to hear about 3.0.

  62. I would love to win this curriculum. We used to use the books and CD roms but they don’t work in my newer laptop. This was hands down the best math we have ever used.

  63. Would love to win this!! We need a new Math curriculum for our Middle Schooler urgently and can’t seem to find what we were looking for until I saw this and we tried a free trial! It will be a saving grace!!

  64. My son is really struggling with math, so I would love to try this with him!

  65. I’ve always wanted to try this! Glad to see they have a web based version now!

  66. It would be great to have the kids math curriculum bundled and ready to go. That’s one less thing for me.

  67. We just tried Teaching Textbooks for the first time this past year. My daughter loves it. I can easily access her progress and it takes the headache out of teaching it in a way she understands. I entered the contest because I wanted to see how the online version is compared to the CD’s. Plus, my daughter is finishing up the one she has so this is good timing.

  68. I could really use some Math help. It’s a big challenge in our family right now.

  69. I would love to win, so I would not have to purchase one year of curriculum. My son has been using this since the fifth grade and is rapidly approaching high school levels.

  70. I’ve only heard great things about Teaching Textbooks! It would be great to give it a try.

  71. With 8 kids (5 of them in the preteen-teen range) it would be a real blessing to have math be one of those subjects I don’t have to teach and grade! Thanks for doing this giveaway! 🙂

  72. We love TT, and I want to switch to 3.0 this year to save money and time having to switch out CDs! I would love to win TT 7 for my son!

  73. We love teaching textbooks!

  74. We used the Geometry curriculum last year for my son who has dylexia, dyscalculus. It was a marvel to see how much better he did.

  75. We are using the trial version for now and my daughter is loving it!! It’s win for the both of us!!

  76. My daughter did the 2.0 last year. Do you need an internet connection to do the 3.0?

  77. I’ve been wanting to try TT, but just have never taken the plunge. It would be great to win this!

  78. I’m interested in finding a math curriculum that offers more independence for my kids, now that I’ll be homeschooling all three of them this year! TT sounds like it could be a great fit.

  79. I would love to win because I really feel like this is what we have needed all along to make things so much easier. It looks like a great program that we could really benefit from. Thank you so much for the chance!

  80. Would love to try this out! I keep reading good reviews.

  81. Sounds good. I’ve been considering a new math program for my daughter.

  82. I’ve always wanted to try Teaching Textbooks!

  83. My daughter just started the free trial of Algebra 1 today. It would be a blessing to win this. She is a visual learner. I think this program is perfect for her!

  84. My son loves and works well on the computer and getting the chance to try 3.0 would be a godsend!
