Welcome to Day 25 of the 2018 Back to Homeschool Giveaway Extravaganza! Today’s giveaway sponsor is Drawn to Discover and they are giving prizes to TEN winners! Check it out…

Do you think of Handwriting as Art? When was the last time you looked at the number “2” in an artistic way, or thought about the various muscles involved with writing that number? Drawn to Discover teaches children how to use their pencil as a tool and how your body uses that tool to create. In their video lessons, Wendy Anderson Halperin (renowned children’s book author and artist, educator, presenter, former advertising creative director, and visual literacy pioneer) begins by teaching the very basics of eye to paper placement and how to strengthen hand muscles. Every detail is discussed and explained to children in a way they can fully understand. I don’t know that I have ever seen a handwriting curriculum go into greater detail to explain handwriting to a child.

Drawn to Discover Giveaway-10 winners!

When was the last time you gripped your pencil and used your opposite hand to feel the muscles you were using when you wrote? Is that something you ever thought to tell your child to do when you started teaching handwriting? Probably not. But that’s okay, Wendy is going to take them back through the basics and onward past the most advanced drawing your child could possibly imagine they would ever know how to do! Along the way, you will be able to see not only their beautiful and creative artwork, but you are also going to see vast improvement in your child’s letter, number, and overall handwriting skills.

“We help children to hear, touch, see, draw,

write and talk about the world they live in”

Children CAN learn how to draw. When they develop those abilities their handwriting improves, their visual and spacial understanding improves, they are more confident, and their self esteem improves. This project connects children to there possibilities. Children use their fingers and learn to love their pencil. HAPPINESS is our magic ingredient. write and talk about the world they live in. ~ Drawn to Discover

Beyond the Basics with Drawn to Discover

Think your child is too young to learn from Ms. Wendy at Drawn to Discover? No way! Drawn to Discover is a visual literacy curriculum that turns everything into Art! Visit them to learn how they draw Science, Math, Biology, Language Arts, Social Studies, Engineering, Cursive and Creativity! Everyone from preschool to adulthood has something to learn from her! I’m really fascinated by her Drawing Cursive lessons. Even as an adult there are a few letters here and there I need a little improvement on. I found myself looking over my girls’ shoulders to take in all I could for myself!

Once your child has advanced along with the program, they can begin Unit Studies like the Discover PEACE study we were able to use. Within this particular series, children are taught a drawing lesson centered around a quote from a famous person in history that was an advocate for PEACE; so we learned about Mother Teresa, Mark Twain, Pope John Paul II, Maya Angelou, and many, many, more! After we learned about the many in history who have been for PEACE, students dig into one of Ms. Wendy’s books and re-illustrate it themselves.

Drawn to Discover is a wonderful art program….but it is SO much more than art program!  Drawn to Discover will help your child to:

  • Develop creativity and imagination
  • Gain support in reading and writing skills
  • Enhance math skills
  • Promote thinking and reasoning
  • Cultivate science comprehension
  • Apply S.T.E.A.M. principles
  • Engage listening and memory
  • Develop fine muscle control
  • Increase attention span

This is something that I absolutely need to try. I really hope I can win it, but will be saving up for it if I don’t win. Wendy is a genius for coming up with this!
