Welcome to Day 2 of Life of a Homeschool Mom’s 24-Day Back to Homeschool Giveaway Extravaganza!! Today’s giveaway is sponsored by and The Learning Hypothesis will have THREE winners. Check it out…

Science can be a challenge to teach.

It always seems like we go into science instruction with the best of intentions, but it can easily become the subject that gets pushed to the side. It’s so unfortunate because children are ‘naturally’ scientists! My 3-year old will announce, “It’s science time!” and race to the school table. My kids and I have enjoyed building bridges, playing with cells, and exploring chemistry.

Nurturing kids’ scientific curiosity with highly engaging activities, projects and demonstrations is what every teacher and homeschooler would like to aim for. It can be overwhelming to find the perfect match and even the best curriculum needs some supplementation. Plus the cost of individual supplements can get pricey.

That is why I have spent my time as a homeschooler and previously as a science educator in the public school and college setting looking for the best ways to teach and optimize learning. I want to be the science teacher that I wish I had, what about you?

The process of scientific learning and thinking begins as soon as kids are born. Even an infant is making sense of his world by exploring the objects, and materials that surround him or her. These explorations naturally lead to more questions and more explorations.

Science Curriculum Can Get Overwhelming.

As a homeschooling mom and professional scientist, I know the challenges of finding a curriculum that will provide the best learning opportunities for my kids. I try to find teaching and learning resources with easy science experiments to keep kids’ interest while exposing them to difficult material in a very engaging way.

The reality is that some of us excel at teaching spelling or reading, but many of us feel intimidated when it comes to science. My goal is to help you teach amazing science lessons with less time and money. I want to support you in becoming the hands-on homeschooler that you have always wanted to be.

If you are looking for experiments and activities, The Lab Bench is a great starting point.

The Lab Bench is a 25-project activity book (in pdf) ideal for anyone that wants to encourage young scientists.

The activities include information to make your life easier:

  • background information
  • demonstration activities
  • video links
  • extension activities
  • answers to common questions
  • & more.

The focus of this book is to create simple science experiments that are easy to execute, but that help kids understand. These science projects for kids let them explore science and ignite their passion.

But in all honesty, some of us need more support and/or a little extra reinforcement. Do you want to save time and money, but still have engaging lessons with resources that will enrich your child’s education?

If you want to be the science teacher you wish you had, you need The Science Circle.

The Science Circle is the ultimate science resource for teachers & homeschoolers, this site offers a huge range of planning tips, activities and ideas for educators. I guess the most wanted prize would be the year of science circle and the lab bench book, because it would def. cover an entire year and beyond of science. 66. I would love to win this curriculum! My girls love science and we don’t do enough experiments. This looks like an amazing resource!

  67. That’s a hard decision . . . both prizes have definitely caught my attention. I am in dire need of a Science curricula for the new year. My daughter loves experimenting and often comes up with her own experiments so winning either one of these resources would give her ample opportunities to explore and discover. If I had to choose one then I would choose Science Circle, because it includes a variety of teaching resources that can make the difficult and challenging job of teaching Science easier and more organized. I wouldn’t have to plan just prep materials and choose hands-on activities and projects with my daughter’s input. The STEM activities book looks AWESOME too. This sounds like a book she could use independently and spark her curiosity a bit more. She also falls within recommended the age group.

  68. I would love to have both, honestly. I think they are fantastic. But, only because my son is still young (5 years old), I’d prefer the Cience Circle, so I would have the flexibility to look exactly for the activities he can do.

    Leila
