There is just something about the thought of Christmas approaching. I love every second of it. Last year my kids were fascinated by watching Santa feed the reindeer on Santa Cam. They asked so many questions so this year we will be doing a Reindeer Unit Study in addition to our 25 days of books for Christmas and I think I am just as excited as they are!

We will be using a little bit of everything so I want to share what I put together and what we will be using.

Reindeer Books

The Reindeer Wish is one that was recommended to me to add to our unit. It’ about a little girl who finds and abandoned reindeer in the woods and takes it in, feeds it and cares for it and the books documents their adventures together.

Reindeer (A Day in the Life: Polar Animals) – This book follows a reindeer through its day as it eats, sleeps, and cares for its young. It’s a great way to get to know how reindeer live.

Reindeer: Amazing Photos & Fun Facts Book about Reindeer – Photos and fun facts about Reindeer. This one is a must for any unit study! Facts from what their scientific name is to where they live, what they eat, their living habits, and more!

Reindeer Movies

Prancer – This movie is about a girl who finds a lost reindeer who she thinks belongs to Santa and the movies followers her care if it and her adventures to get it back to Santa.

Frozen – While not completely educational it’s a great ‘fun day’ movie to still fit the theme!

Reindeer Printables

I’m loving this Romping Reindeer There is a lot of fun to be had in this lesson about Reindeer while including lessons about nature as well.

Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer, Reindeer Printable Pack – This printable pack from 3 Dinosaurs ties in with the Rudolf the Red Nose Reindeer book and comes with several options from a tot pack for the little ones to join in, to a black pack to create some fo your own option. Plus her printable is so big it’s broken down into 4 packs on its own!

Learn All About Reindeer with this curriculum piece. I love this one because it’s 30 pages that incorporate, reading, math, science, and social studies all with a reindeer theme.

What do your kids think? Are Reindeer Real? Help them learn the truth behind the Christmas reindeer from their favorite stories.

More of a lap book family? This Reindeer (Caribou) Fun Study PLUS Speedy Lapbook is a great way to get kids into the unit study and active!
