Our Christmas customs are such a conglomeration of traditions from so many different countries and heritages, that Christmas is the perfect time to study geography and world cultures in your homeschool.

  • You can study maps, countries and continents, topography, directions, landmarks and famous sites etc.
  • You can study language, and famous literature from those countries.
  • You can study music, instruments and famous composer/performers from those countries.
  • You can study the culture, family life, economy, educational system, demographics, government, etc.
  • You can study their foods, art and traditions, and so much more!

Our family began studying Christmas around the world last year with a series of posts and free downloads that I wrote at Paradise Praises. We had a blast learning together about the legends and traditions of so many places, contacting friends who have lived there for their input, trying out recipes, making maps and doing crafts. We also found that it opened our eyes and hearts to other peoples who need to hear about the true meaning of Christmas.
