Ahhh… Fall! We love fall around my house. We love the cooler temperatures that have us bringing out our sweatshirts and boots. We love pumpkin muffins and hot chocolate on brisk mornings. And, we especially love watching the leaves in our town turn colors. We didn’t see much of that when we lived in Texas, but now that we’re in Ohio, we get to really “see” autumn arrive. Right now, the leaves are beginning to turn beautiful shades of yellow, orange, and fire red. It’s so nice driving around town and seeing all of the trees in their various stages of change. Our backyard is lined with trees. That means, right now, our backyard is covered with yellow leaves. My daughter is counting down the days until the yard is full enough to break out the rake. She loves to rake the leaves {with a little help from mom or dad} into a big pile and dive on in.

 Learn About Leaves

This is the perfect time of year to study leaves. You can use leaf-themed activity pages to reinforce math and reading skills. You can gather fallen leaves for some great science exploration. What are the parts of the leaves called? Why do they change color in the fall? How come all leaves don’t change color? No matter the age of your learner, you’re bound to find something fun to do in the list below.
