Freezer Cooking Recipe: French Toast

Today I want to share with you a very simple concept that has changed our mornings.

I actually owe all the credit on this one to my wonderful husband! This is his recipe and his idea.

He started doing this for me when our twins were just old enough to be eating table food. They have always loved breakfast food and with twin toddlers running the house, he has always done everything he could to make my days easier for me (yes, I know, I have a good man!)

And so, Homemade {Freezer} French Toast was born!

Homemade {Freezer} French Toast

What you need to make French Toast:

  • bread (of your choice, we use wheat)
  • eggs
  • cinnamon
  • vanilla
  • nutmeg

Your recipe amount is going to vary depending on how much you chose to make at a time.

This will make 22 pieces: 8 eggs, 1/2 tsp, 1 tsp vanilla, 2 dashes of nutmeg (all of these things are too your taste of course. My husband never measures. When I asked him about measurements, he actually gave it to me like this: “about 4 shakes of cinnamon!” *snicker*)

How to Make Homemade French Toast

Mix eggs and spices together in a bowl thoroughly.

Dip you bread on each side in the mixture.

Spray your Griddle with a non-stick spray.

Place it on a Griddle (or you can use a pan) and cook for a few minutes on each side (until eggs are cooked).

Top with your favorite syrup and ENJOY!

Now To Freeze Your French Toast

Allow your French Toast to cool off completely.

Line a cookie sheet with wax paper or plastic wrap and lay the toast flat in a single layer. Place in the freezer. Once it is frozen, simply stack and place in freezer bags.

This doesn’t stick together too bad, so we sometimes get lazy and just stack it up after it cools and place directly in the freezer bag. If it sticks, I just pop it apart with a fork.

When you are ready to serve, just put it in a toaster and warm it up. Takes a matter of seconds!

*Did you know that you can do this with homemade pancakes too? *

**Note**: We use a griddle like this one:

I pray that this blesses your mornings and allows you a few extra minutes, busy moms!
